![]() ![]() That requires CPU performance, multi-processing, multi-threading, and multiple cores. It’s being able to do ALL of the package at the SAME TIME. Even for video DJing, graphics fidelity isn’t the main focus. They DO have some hardware (meaning GPU) APIs and hooks (via the “Allow hardware encoding/rendering” options) in the program, but it’s not the main focus. It makes it easier for them to code around CPU/OS requirements and shave off cycles/RAM/power eating things in that side than it is to code for a GPU that you may switch out in 2 months. It’s not a design flaw more so than a coding necessity. Serato can code around CPUs, it’s (because those are a little more common/universal and) easier than GPUs (at least, in my understanding). Not an advertisement, just my experience. You might want to consider it, because it’s a one-time, easy solution, rather than a testing headache. I’ve had my current MacBook Pro for 11 years, and it STILL going faster than any PC I’ve ever had for this. Even with tweaking in the BIOS, it doesn’t run the way I want. I’ve rarely had a PC that could handle most things I do. Hopefully this rant will help someone else having the same issue.Īre you telling me that my mid-2012 MacBook Pro is STILL running circles around current Gen PCs? Wow….that’s kinda….sad, but neat.Īnyways, Serato Video really doesn’t run well on ANY PC I’ve thrown it at. ![]() This is seriously disappointing, considering how well the rest of the software works, especially with my DDJ-SX. No dropped frames, and an average FPS between 30-50 (video is only about 30 constant according to Handbrake). h264 to h264 (NVENC, I was fed up with the time spent and wanted the quicker option), AAC audio passthrough, framerate "Same as Source." The resulting file was 215MB. I was finally able to fix the issue (if you can call it that) by re-encoding the video in Handbrake, but with the Fast Decode box checked. Same issue.įrom what I've gathered, Serato only utilizes the CPU for video encoding/decoding, not any dedicated GPUs. I tried everything I could think of, including busting out an external GPU with a desktop Nvidia 1660Ti. Nothing I did seemed to fix it, despite trying to Google the issue. Framerate (via the debug option) averaged around 7-10. The video itself is h264 encoded, with AAC audio. The test video was a YouTube rip of Porter Robinson's Shelter video (about 58MB). For reference, I'm using a Razer Blade Stealth 2020, (4-Core/8-Thread 10th Gen Intel and an Nvidia 1650Ti Mobile GPU, definitely within the minimum spec they require). ![]() I spent the last few hours playing with Serato video, and all I can say is that I'm disappointed. ![]()
